LABCORP® EXCLUSIVE LABORATORY SPONSOR OF DR-CONNECT


TAMPA, Fla. – May 1, 2008 – Laboratory Corporation of America® Holdings (LabCorp®) (NYSE: LH), one of the world’s largest clinical laboratories providing clinical assays ranging from routine blood analyses to HIV and genomic testing, has agreed to become the exclusive laboratory sponsor of dr-connect.com, a window into Tampa Bay’s community-based health information exchange (HIE) that is administered by Doctor’s Administrative Solutions (DAS).

The dr-connect.com web site was launched in the wake of the November 1, 2007 announcement that Tampa Bay had won a $3 million software grant to support EHR adoption. Tampa Bay was chosen over more than 90 other communities competing for the grant, which is the second portion of a three-part, $10 million program administered by The Center for Community Health Leadership, an organization sponsored by Misys Healthcare Systems. Dr-connect.com provided information to physician practices and other eligible providers interested in applying for the free EHR software online and is becoming the central point of EHR-based communication for the HIE, the Tampa Bay Health e-Connection (TBHC).
